Catering Equipment Suppliers
Split equipment supply, layout work, installation and destination support into named responsibilities. A supplier responsibility matrix.
Split equipment supply, layout work, installation and destination support into named responsibilities. Ask each supplier to mark what is included and who handles anything excluded. Resolve interface gaps before purchase, especially where furniture, utility connections and commissioning are supplied by different parties.
Assign responsibilities before comparing catering suppliers: factory and buyer checks
Factory-side delivery includes configuration control and records as well as the equipment itself. The offer should distinguish what is manufactured, sourced and installed by each party. Buyers can then connect model identity, inspection records and parts information to the delivered unit, rather than relying on a broad factory-capability description.
Scope to settle before production
Separate factory-made equipment, bought-in components and local installation duties in the offer. Request exact model identities, production or inspection records and written exception handling.
| Decision point | Factory record to request | Customer verification |
|---|---|---|
| Supply | Define equipment and accessory boundaries. Name included components, documents and responsibilities against the same line of the offer. | Compare explicit inclusions and exceptions, and keep the final approved scope with the delivered equipment. |
| Installation | Name the party responsible for each connection. Provide installation documents for the exact offered build, including its connection and clearance requirements. | Have the responsible installer review those documents against the destination site before approving the installation. |
- Support: Identify the route for model documents and parts.
Acceptance at the customer site
Compare the supplier's documented deliverables and support route against the same kitchen brief.
Assign each supplier a clear scope
Identify who supplies the appliance, who installs it and who supports it at the destination. A low equipment price is difficult to assess when connections, commissioning and spare-parts responsibilities remain unclear.
Build an equipment schedule that can be quoted consistently
| Requirement | Practical check |
|---|---|
| Workflow | Map receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, service and washing. Identify the steps that must operate simultaneously. |
| Equipment line | Give each required item a reference, quantity, working duty, installation location and required accessories. |
| Site interface | Assign utility connections, extraction, drainage, access and any work outside the equipment supply. |

Send one consistent brief to the suppliers
Send the menu, peak service demand, floor plan, utilities, opening schedule and itemised equipment list. Ask for model-by-model replies and written exceptions to your specification.
